Battle of the Planets (G-Force). This was really the first anime that most of my generation was exposed to. Battle of the Planets was a bastardized version of the Japanese Kagaku Ninja Tai Gatchaman which translates to Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. What Sandy Frank did to Gatchaman was to edit out all of the really violent bits and replace them with disco scenes and of course the controversial 7-Zark-7 (and 1-Rover-1). A lot of continuity went out the door with the rest of the cuttings. In addition, Keyop (Jinpei) was given a speech impediment (all clones grown from single cells say "roo-too-toot" a lot, didn't you know?).

THE THEME: The evil Zoltar and his space-goons from the planet Spectra build a series of dynamic animal-shaped war machines in an effort to control the Earth's resources. Five youngsters are given super-powers in an effort to thwart him.
