The Herculoids. This is the one that got me into cartoon collecting. I vaguely remembered this cartoon from growing up in Calgary, and the only way I could get my desperately sought-after copies was trading via dealers over the internet. Through this transaction I learned I could pretty much get anything that was ever aired on TV, Saturday morning or not.

THE THEME: Zandor defends his planet, Quasar, with the help of his family (Tara and Dorno) and monster friends, Igoo, Tundro, Zzzok, Gloop and Gleep, from a vast menagerie of robots, aliens and less defined evil menaces.

The Herculoids had two incarnations. The first (and best) appeared in 1967.

THE EPISODES: I have all of the episodes. Recording/audio/video quality is noted with each episode. Note that originally, each story had a minute-long prologue before the episode title was shown. On the Cartoon Network broadcasts, these prologues were cut. I have indicated which episodes I have that are cut in this way. Episodes are 10 minutes long. These were received through trades. The complete series is about 470 minutes (7 hours 50 minutes). My collection would fit on 4 tapes in SP mode (12 episodes per tape).

The Herculoids (1967-70) 36 episodes.

Herculoids (Space Stars; 1981-82) 11 episodes
